Asset tracking is very useful but the thing that you need to get your head is asset management as it is this that every company needs to do.

So what is asset tracking? Asset tracking is actually more software that helps out the companies using it, basically it will track the assets so it is important for both big and small companies. Read the rest of this entry

There has never been so many people taking the plunge and setting up home-based businesses than there are right now. A large number of the people who work from home choose to go it alone and set up their own enterprise, often making their money via the internet. As with any type of business there are issues to overcome before they can be successful and people who work from home often quote the same issues time and again. Below is a closer look at some of the most common problems reported by business owners.

Lack of Respect. Unfortunately, some of the more traditional companies and managers out there don’t appreciate that people can run a perfectly viable business from home, and not everyone needs an office as a base. With this in mind, trying to build up contacts and win business can be difficult for some home-based businesses as they are not taken seriously and sometimes other companies are not happy sending documents or products to home addresses.

Meeting Contacts & Clients. For a great many B2B companies, meeting clients face to face is very important part of what they do. This is obviously not always easy if your office is your living room for example as conducting meetings at home does not always give the best first impression. To avoid this, more home based businesses are conducting their meetings and corporate hospitality at external locations. For example, they might arrange a Henley Regatta hospitality day to pitch to a client on neutral territory.

Mixing Work and Leisure. People who run home businesses often mention that one of the hardest things to get right is trying to segregate free time and working. This takes a little getting used to but can cause problems with family life and stress if a clear structure is not put in place between time committed to the business and time allocated to relaxing and spending time with loved ones.

Guarding the political conference

It is difficult to believe with my current working lifestyle of working for 8 hours a day, that I was once working a security guard. I have to stress that the job was temporary whilst I was studying, but none-the-less it was a real job, in many real situations.

My main claim to fame was being an official security guard during the Party Political conference of the Labour Party in 2006. Read the rest of this entry
