p>Home based business is a hot topic right now, with more people that ever earning a buck without having to deal with long commutes or stuffy offices. A vast proportion of home-based business owners are doing everything on their own and there has been a tendency to rely heavy on the internet for marketing and winning customers. It is not an easy path however, and people who choose to work from home thinking they will get to relax a bit often run into some key problems very quickly. Lets take a look a three common issues.

Not Being Taken Seriously. Even though home-based businesses are more accepted in society than they perhaps used to be, there are still those who are sceptical about dealing with small home-run operations. Business owners have sometimes found that people have not returned their calls or refused to send out documentation when they have learnt the business is based at home. This is something that is slowly changing, but there is still stigma attached to such operations.

Meeting Clients/Customers. For many companies, meeting with prospective clients and pitching their services is a vital part of their operation. This is obviously not always easy if your office is your living room for example as conducting meetings at home does not always give the best first impression. To avoid this, more home based businesses are conducting their meetings and corporate hospitality at external locations. For example, they might arrange a Henley Regatta hospitality day to pitch to a client on neutral territory.

Mixing Work and Leisure. Trying to juggle work time and free time is one of the most common complaints from home-based business owners. It does take time to find the right balance and put into place some strict rules and boundaries regarding work and pleasure, but there is likely to always be problems that crop up from time to time and that need to be addressed.
